Use of non-serviceable PSC sleepers for improvement of Goods Shed circulating area
Goods Sheds are very intensively used. It is a common complaint of traders that surface in most of the goods shed is poor. It delays rake release and causes revenue loss to IR.
An idea was floated a couple of years ago by Devender Singh Sir,(CTPM NR) to tackle this problem on a long term basis. Unserviceable concrete sleepers which are available can be used to provide the durable surface in goods shed which eases and facilitates better truck/crane movement. By undertaking the work cost reduces, surface is durable and it helps in the mobility of trucks for loading and unloading.
This experiment is successfully implemented on Alamnagar, Chukhandi and Daryapur stations of Lucknow division.
